la faba – casa de espiritualidad, apostolado y atencion al peregrino
arriving . staying . leaving
Light, air, freshness and space – for the pilgrims and everything
they have to carry. Small and simply arranged, but so comfortable
in its qualities that it is easy to confine to the little.
Here, the pilgrims arrive after their walk through the day, through
the hot and dusty land. For a short while the refugio offers them
the possibility to rest and retreat after a long way.
So, outspent, they droop to the bench at the entrance to be
welcomed by the hospitalero and respire.
Stone and wooden floors, clay walls, high ceilings and open space create
a climate of restoration and freshness. Window shutters and mats of esparto-grass
keep out the heat of the sun and let fresh air circulate during the night.
The beds offer protected space to retreat. Benches and hooks on the walls
and beds store all belongings.
The kitchen is a place to meet and share. Exchanging experiences, preparing
meals. An open space, racks and benches. Together eating at the big table,
together washing the dishes. Into the hatch, fresh fruit and water are offered.
Flagging and wood, clean and fresh.
Upstairs the bathrooms: a small and private one or the open bath-area.
Benches for those waiting for a refreshing shower. The big windows keep
the room ventilated and dry. A small private area is reserved for the hospitalero.
